This can occur from overfilling due to a stuck float switch. It can also result from sudsing in the tub during the wash. Also, the lower spray arm support has a one-way flapper inside to allow water to drain from the arm after the wash. This rubber flap can wear off, causing the stream of water to shoot straight out at the bottom of the door. An experianced eye can detect which is the problem. Almost impossible for a layman to do without professional help. The repair manual really helps. One is available on the link below:
