? Sounds to me like the WATER VALVE died. This part should be located exactly where the water line enters the refrigeratr. It will have an electrical connector as well.
If you would directly connect power to the valve, using a "patch cord," it should immediately pump water into the ice maker.
1) If that does NOT occur, the valve is devective, and should be replaced.
2) If the valve does not allow water to flow, there is a wiring problem elsewhere, either in the icemaker assembly itself, or in the wiring harness (far less likely because the unit had previously worked OK)

: : 13 months ago I purchased a Kenmore Elite double-door refrigerator with ice maker. Out of the blue it stopped
: : working. It simply is not filling up the tray with water. I thawed the freezer for 2 hours, but still not luck - no frozen
: : water line and no ice blocking any mechanism. I removed the filter, but still no water. Water goes to the water
: : dispenser just fine.

: : Have these icemakers been a problem? What could possibly be wrong and how does one check for it??

: Mikie--I too am having that problem--several months ago my frigidare ice maker stopped working and I just got around to dealing with it. I had the repair guys out TWICE and the darn thing is still not working. The first guy replaced the ice maker to the tune of $150 and he left and it never worked. The 2nd guy showed up, played with it, it made 1 tray of ice, and promptly stopped working again! Anyone HELP!
