That's one of the mysteries in appliance repair. Sometimes stuff happens on its own schedule. I suggest you check and make sure that isn't the cause and then you can move onto possible mechanical problems with the washer.

Does it occur all the time or only when the machine is running? Depending on your machine's exact model number (Kenmore "70 Series" isn't it), there could be mechanical failures which could cause that problem but only when the machine is running.
If you need further assistance, please post the model number as written *on the machine's model and serial number tag* so we can find out how it was designed and what parts it uses which might be responsible for problems.
