: When I turn-on a stove top burner, the igniter makes the usual "zapping" sound, then the electronics go dead; that is, all igniters and the digital clock display. After a few minutes, they come back on.
: The clock then needs to be re-set in the same way that it would if there had been an electrical failure.
Hi Jerry,
A digital electronic clock runs on a DC power supply.
The ignitor system also runs on a DC source
much like a Stun Gun which runs on a 9 volt battery. If the power supply is not up to the job, the ignitor can rob most of the power and
cause the clock to reset itself like your VCR does
when it is unplugged.
I don't know how talented you are with DC power supplies, but this sounds like a job for someone who has spare parts to prove what is defective.
You will need the circuit diagram to be sure what
you are testing.
I can't say for sure but it is likely you will either need to replace the clock unit which probably has an integrated power supply.
Did you have a lightning strike nearby before this
all began?
