In Reply to: Kenmore Side By Side Fridge - Ice but no water Posted by: Holly on May 09, 2005 at 11:02:43:
: I have a Kenmore side by side. The fridge and freezer work fine.
: It is making ice fine, but no water is coming from the water dispensor.
: Are the lines to that separate from the ice dispensor?
Most of them.
: Maybe a bad filter?
Slim chance... if whatever model of Kenmore fridge you have doesn't also filter the water for the icemaker. Many of the newer models do also filter the icemaker water in which case a problem in the filter would affect both icemaker and water dispenser.
: I'm not sure where to start. It seems everyone else is having problems
: making ice, where I am having problems getting the water dispenser to work.
A problem affecting only the water dispenser side of the unit could be cause by a frozen water reservoir (in the fridge compartment) or water line, a problem in the switching mechanism in the dispenser unit, the electric circuit between the dispenser and the water fill valve (on the back of the fridge) or that water valve.
You can read some appliance water fill valve information at the following links. A start may be to make sure the water valve is at least getting power or not when the dispenser switch is activated.

BTW. Appliances are identified using their "model number". If you need to order parts for it or even when just asking questions about it, it is handy to supply that model number. You can find tips for locating the model and serial number tag on your appliances in the 'Repair Parts' section of my web site linked below.
PS. Anything written in plain view on the front of an appliance (eg. "Series 60", 70, 80 or 90, "Deluxe", "Gold", "Heavy Duty", "Kenmore Elite", "Kenmore 20", etc.) is NOT its model number.
