: How do I adjust the steering sector box? Has alot of play in the steering. Slack in the steering wheel.(take the slack out is what I need to do)
If you're sure the linkage is OK,and no worn parts there, look straight down at the gearbox, toward the front of it,on top. You'll see a threaded stud(notched on top for a screwdriver) with a locking nut on it. Loosen the locking nut while holding the stud with a screwdriver. With the wrench still on the nut, turn the stud down a little until you feel pressure on it. Lock it down and try it. It's sort of a step-by-step procedure. It may take a few times, and don't go too far with it and make the steering too tight. You want the wheel to return to center on its own when driving and be loose enough to be comfortable. You may have to live with a little slop,as tightening it too much will only do more harm than good.
