: I am in North Carolina and I am looking for a cheap way to build a big house. Would it be cheaper to build a house from cinder blocks than brick? If so why? Are their different types of cinder blocks?

Jennifer
The only way to compare the cost would be to look at the design or blueprint of the home in question. As to are there different types of block yes. Block come in any number of patterns and shapes finishes form the normal grey block to sand finishes burnished block which are actually polished to the different glazed block which have a resin based finish added after the block is made. Also the block will vary in price from around $1.00 to $45.00 apiece so the cost will be determined by the block style and type.
