: i have a 10x15x6" slab about to be poured, i hav e wire fence placed on the ground to help prevent cracking in winter, what is the best way to make sure the fencing is suspended in the cement after pouring, rather than it laying on the bottom touching the ground, is it ok to support the fence with say scrap 2x4s so it will stay off the ground

Will
You do not want to leave any wood in the concrete as it will rot and leave voids. If it is necessary to prop up the mesh use cement brick availible at most lumber yards for a small price. Most times you can pull the wire up as you pour and support is not needed.
