: Our house is a 70 year old wood structure, salt box style with old aluminum siding. We would like to reface the front with stone and repaint the rest of the siding. Any information on refacing with stone. Thank you

Patty
If you want to reface with real stone you will have to dig down and build a footing for the stone out of block and concrete. This should extend below the frost line if that is a problem in your area. There are many different types of anchors to hold the stone veneer in place on a wood frame home so that should not be a problem. There are also many brands of fake stone that can be installed without a footing on a wire lath and plaster backing. For more information check with your local supplier of brick or block they usually have installation guides on hand.
