I also had this problem with two Genie openers. The problem was that they were too close and the signals were interfering. I called Genie and they sent me a new circuit board at no cost. I installed the new circuit board and the problem was corrected. The new circuit board had a metal shield covering one of the electronic components.
I suggest you call the manufacturer of your unit and see if they have any ideas. Hope this helps.
