What I need to know is how to check my filler valve to see if it has gone bad because I'm not getting water through it our maybe the ice maker is not telling it to open?

Answer:
First make sure the water is flowing, remove the tubing from the icemaker and see if its flowing. If its okay, make sure the icemaker is in the ready position, meaning the full bar is all the way down. Next would be replacing the fill valve where the water comes in to the refer, that will keep the water from flowing. Some units have a filter and that could be clogged.
