What is the best way to clean out my french drain? I think it is clogged up with dirt, and I have also noticed a small "critter" going in and out. I have tried my water hose, but can't get it very far up the drain. I'd welcome your suggestions. Thanks.

Answer:
Depending on the clog and the size of pipe that was used this could get tricky. If your drains PVC then a simple snake can clear the tube. Use plenty of water on the backside of the drain to weaken the blockage. If your drain is made or couragated slit pipe . Once again try the snake but place a styrofoam float near the head of the snake and place the water flow in front of the blockage. If all else fails get out your hammer and pick and dig it up and replace the pipe.
