Actually, the cat was a female. We have opted to completely tear out the carpet and pad - you wouldn't believe how BAD it is!! We've used a black light, and fortunately, there isn't any spray up on the walls or baseboards. What we have been told to do by the "industrial strength" carpet guys, is to:
1. Tear out the carpet & Pad & tack strips (and we are keeping enough for evidence when we haul them into court).
2. Thoroughly vacuum the area including under the baseboards.
3. Clean with a bleach solution.
4. Treat with an enzyme product.
5. Seal it with BIN made by Zinsser
6. And pray that it all works.
