Sure, apply a few coats of floor polyurethane (oil based may yellow)
or polyacrylic which will not yellow. Make sure you
get a poly made for floors to protect it.
I am not sure what paint you used but it does not
sound like you used floor paint so sealing it will certainly
help make the paint last.
Also if you see wear in a year adding a new coat of
poly will help it last longer.
