I am preparing our plywood subfloor (removed carpet, cleaned) prior to laying down some Bruce (3/8 x 3, glue down). Here's the problem. I have an OLD dog who doesn't really care where she goes, which prompted the pullout of the carpet and two cats who, at one time, got in a little contest to see who could make dad madder :). Well, long story short, there are some urine stains on the subfloor and still a bit of a smell. I have tried sanding them down, spraying them with simple solution, and bleaching them. Nothing has worked. My next thing is to try ammonia and maybe one of those enzymes, but, I don't expect good results. Would KILZ work? and is it okay to put down the Bruce glue over the primed subfloor? Bruce wasn't much help, in that I never got through to a real person, only promises to call me back if I left a message.
Thanks for any help. I really don't want to replace the subfloor (and can't afford it after buying the bruce!).
