: I put water in the bathtub and it doesn't leak. I put some plumber's putty around the drain in the bathtub and it holds the water. But, when I drain the water, it comes on the kitchen counter below the bathroom. The bathtub drain must hold the water. But, somehow, the water doesn't go down the drain and it ends up on the kitchen counter. Is there a problem with the trap? Of course, I don't have access to the trap or the pipe below the bathtub. What should i do?

Doug,
First of all don't use your tub until it is
fixed. Some water through the floor isn't going
to hurt but on a continual basis, as you know,
will cause you grief.
Unless someone else chimes in with a better idea.. the only thing I can see is that you must find access to your drain from below (ie. cut a hole) Hopefully this will not be too difficult.
As I said, someone else might have a different
idea.
Good luck!
