Smelly drains

A septic smell comes from the drain of two sinks when water is run. These sinks are on the first floor. The second floor sinks do not have this problem. The two sinks are plumbed to the same drain pipe. The smell goes away after the water has run for a brief time period. The trap in the basement does have water in it. We are on a septic tank system. Any idea on what would cause this?
