: I recently disconnected the second phone line in the house. I had a two line jack in the study with a one line phone connected to the number that was disconnected. I want to rewire the jack so that I can use the phone with the active line. How do I do it?

how did you disconnect the jack in the first place
basically your phone works off of two wires generally
its the green and red wires of the cable if you have
"jake cable" or the white and blue wires if you have cat 3
cable in any case your first line should be hot on the green and red
and the other line should be hot on the black and
yellow you should find out which line is still hot
first wire the jack up with green on green and red
on red if the phone doesnt work take the green wire
of the cable feeding your line to the jack nd wire it to the
black and the red to the yellow see if this works
any questions please e-mail me i am a telecommunications
technician i can fix anyproblem you have. brian
