In Reply to: Candle Wax Removal Posted by: Dorothy on February 01, 2004 at 21:12:17
This Christmas my table candle driped a lot of wax on my table cloth and a knitted table runner that was made by my great aunt. How do I safely remove the wax? Thanks.
Dorothy, this is a slow but sure method, you must have patience. First try to gently scrape away as much wax as possible. Gather some brown paper grocery bags or white paper towels (MAKE SURE THERE IS NO PRINT ON THE PAPER). Place one layer flat on your ironing board, then your waxed table cloth, then more plain brown paper or 3 layers of paper towel on top. Turn your iron on WARM. Place iron onto paper do not apply presser and count to 10. Lift the iron and you should a dark circle on paper; this is the warmed wax being absorbed by the paper! Lift the paper on top of your table cloth and rotate so you have clean paper over the wax again and repeat the above process. Be carefull not to allow the paper that has the wax in it to restain your cloth. When you get no more spots on your paper wash the cloth in the warmest temperature water as possible. This will work for you, promise.
