I have a Kenmore Power Miser 5 Water Heater. It looks to me that it was installed in 1991. I do not have the manual for it because I bought the house in '94 and it wasn't passed on to me. It no longer heats the water enough for more than a 2 minute shower. Prior to that it was intermitently kicking off the bottom red reset button, then it began kicking off the top red reset button. Then it tripped the fuse a few times. It now only heats enough water for only a quicky shower. I would love if my wife could shave her legs again without having to replace the unit, if you know what I mean. Do you have any suggestions for me?? It would be a great help!! I know its old and probably costing me more now than a boiler buddy would but at this point my budget denotes more of a quick fix than a replacement unit. What should I do??? Thanks.
I'm not familiar with them. However, I wouldn't hesitate to work on one. I'd start taking stuff apart for a visual. If you were resetting breakers there was a lot of current going through there. You should find something burned, possibly the elements or wires to the elements.
