The instructions on the back of the lightbulb package says to use gloves and eye protection when replacing halogen bulbs. Now come what may possible the dumbest questions you have ever been asked but I must know.

1. What kind of gloves? Cotton? 2. Do they have to be new gloves? If they are washed will the laundry detergent or fabric softner leave a damaging residue on the bulb? 3. Am I putting way too much thought into this?? Ha!!

Answer:
I have replaced a few halogen bulbs. It is the oil on your hands that causes premature lamp failure. Clean cotton gloves would work well but I just use a clean rag or paper towel when replacing more.
