Marks From Clothes Dryer

We keep getting marks on our light clothing from our clothes dryer. I've determined it's the dryer and not the washer through process of elimination by using my tee shirts. I've examined it several times and can not find anything in there that would be causing these marks. The marks look like a "Sharpie" pen was thrown in the dryer with the cap off. It only effects on or two items a load with just one mark. >It's driving me crazy because the marks do not come out. Any suggestion short of buying a new dryer? It's about 15 years old.

Answer:
We had the same problem with our nearly new Kenmore dryer. After having the repair man come out 3 times, they finally figured out that the black seal gasket was loose and the clothes would get stuck in the gasket, (which would leave a black mark), and then the item would be pulled free during the tumbling process. So check the gaskets, (I believe there is one in the back and one around the door opening.) Good luck!
